3 October 2014 Swaab works on deal to beef up JBS

Sydney law firm Swaab Attorneys has advised Andrews Meat, Australia's premium value-added red meat supply and ready-made meal distribution business, on the sale of a majority stake to  JBS Australia, the Australian subsidiary of global meat processing business JBS S.A.

The deal will allow JBS and Andrews Meat to expand its extensive range of branded lamb and beef product into higher value market segments, and the sellers have retained a minority stake in the business to enable them to assist in driving growth of the new business.

This was one of a number of recent transactions in the food distribution industry in which Swaab has been involved, including the sales of a family-owned retail butcher and a wholesale food distribution business.  Corporate partner Alistair Jaque who led the deals for Swaab said "We are very pleased to have been involved in these transactions, and have developed a good understanding of the issues facing the food distribution industry at the moment".
