28 August 2015 Warwick Ryan featured in SmartCompany on disability discrimination case

A former employee at Corrective Services NSW has been awarded more than $170,000 in compensation after it was found that she had been unlawfully discriminated against.

Caryn Huntley’s was diagnosed with Chrohn’s Disease, which is considered to be a disability under Australian law. The court ruled that Corrective Services failed to make “reasonable adjustments” to Caryn Huntley’s work duties. 

Employment law specialist, Warwick Ryan, told SmartCompany that employers need to understand that they have an obligation to help employees fulfil their duties.
