It's all about you

What kind of firm would you like to work for? One where your input is valued and your work is rewarded? Where innovation is welcomed? Where it’s understood that life doesn’t begin and end with work?

If you answered yes to the above, Swaab Attorneys could be the place for you.

At Swaab, we work hard to make sure that our staff are being challenged and enjoy coming in to work each day.

We understand that to keep our talented people happy we need to offer them more than just interesting work, we need to give them an incentive to do a good job.

Staff Benefits

Charitable

We encourage and foster generosity of spirit. Our lawyers have the opportunity to provide those less fortunate with legal services, through our affiliation with the Public Interest Legal Clearing House (PILCH). We also have a full calendar of events that we participate in annually as part of our commitment to giving back to the community. These include our Masterchef style bake-off for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea and hair colouring, or for the braver among us, shaving, for the World's Biggest Shave. We encourage our staff to come to us with ideas for fundraising and when our staff do participate in charitable events, the firm matches their dollar donations.

Social

We understand that all work and no play makes us all a little dull! Each month at Swaab we hold staff lunches, these lunches are hosted by our CEO Bronwyn Pott (who does most of the cooking!) and allow all our staff to get together and catch up over a meal made by our very own people. We also hold weekly Friday night drinks in our resident Swaabucks and every two months a department around the firm hosts a larger themed event, one recent example was a sporting event which consisted of Wii bowling and tennis competitions, darts and our staff turning out in their favourite sporting team's kit.

Respectful

At Swaab respect for each other and the different skill sets we posses are paramount to the services we provide to our clients. Respect is one of our core firm values and is recognised during performance development and factored in to the criteria around other firm incentive programs. We encourage open communication between all levels of staff and expect all our staff's opinions to be listened to and respected.

Active

We love to see our staff getting out and being active. For those amongst us that have a gym membership the firm commits $500 a year towards gym memberships. Our staff also participate in group fitness activities such as boxing which the firm also subsidises. The Firm holds the belief that everything we do is a partnership and that a co-contribution demonstrates a commitment of both the firm and the individual.

Innovative

We also believe in our staff being equipped with the right tools to be able to do their jobs to the best of their ability. We have recently given all our management and legal staff iPads. The iPads enable our people to become flexible workers when they are on the road or travelling and also allows them to be efficient in meetings, conferences and seminars where note taking can be an arduous process. We encourage our staff to share applications that will further enhance innovation and efficiency and hold a monthly 'ideas exchange' to encourage utilisation and innovation.

Rewarding

We like nothing more than recognising our staff for the great jobs they are doing. Each quarter we announce and reward our Swaab Superstars. Swaab Superstars come out of legal, administration and support staff and are rewarded for their commitment, excellence, integrity, teamwork, innovation and generosity of spirit. We also reward loyalty with every one of our employees being rewarded for every year they spend with the firm. Every 'Swaabiversary' is celebrated with flowers and gifts, and from year 3, Service awards include Tiffany gifts and other substantial items.

Encouraging

We encourage all our staff to embrace lifelong learning, providing generous annual training budgets which are augmented by education grants available on request. We encourage everyone to attend conferences and seminars that will broaden their skill set and are committed to contributing to higher education fees where we see a real benefit to both the employer and the firm, supporting our people with paid study and exam leave and reimbursed tuition fees. Our CEO and Managing Partner are always happy to discuss our education philosophy and further education opportunities. Our informal training covers a number of self development topics and is normally delivered via our 'lunch and learn' seminars.

Mind, Body and Spirit – Wellbeing program

Swaab encourages our employees to have a balanced life, believing that this contributes to their capacity and capability in the workplace as well as their wellbeing in general. Our 'Mind Body Spirit' program was created to encourage balanced life practices and covers topics as diverse as financial management, healthy eating, and lifelong learning.
