The Gin Collaboration

A Generosity Of Spirit

We hope you enjoy receiving this Award Winning Gin as much as we enjoy giving it to you. This Gin is the result of collaboration between Christian Young, a long-time client of Swaab and a director of Lord Howe Island Distilling Company, Stephen Evans, one of Australia’s most celebrated artists, and of course Swaab.

How it all started

Swaab was established by Fredrick Swaab, in Sydney, Australia, in 1981. Fred was an innovator with a spirit of generosity, continuously searching to find better ways to assist clients. This was not merely a search for the commercial success of the firm, it was also to strive to support those in need of good shepherding through legal quagmires and conflicts. Fred built our firm on the expectation that our people delivered honest, considered, and professional advice, backed by deep skill, expertise, and excellent service. Fred was a champion swimmer. Swimming was an important part of Fred’s physical and spiritual well-being. He was a longstanding board member of and was later awarded life membership of, the Bondi Icebergs, where he competed in multiple swimming competitions.

The Celebrated Artist — Stephen Evans

After Fred’s passing in early 2016, as part of our commitment to Fred’s legacy, Swaab commissioned a painting from Stephen Evans — Bondi, one of Australia’s most celebrated artists based in Bondi and renowned for his unique and breathtaking interpretations of the Australian landscape. Our brief to Stephen was to create a painting from the perspective of Fred’s favourite place, the iconic Bondi Beach, which included the suburbs resided in by those partners who owned the firm at that time. That’s why the painting captures Bondi Icebergs and extends all the way out to the ANZAC Bridge and Balmain. The popularity of the painting became so entwined and synonymous with Swaab’s brand, that Stephen was again engaged to prepare a floor-to-ceiling mural of the painting to greet clients at the firm’s reception on Level 4, 20 Hunter Street Sydney. This same painting adorns the bottle you are holding.

The Award-Winning Gin — Christian Young

Christian is a director of Lord Howe Island Distilling Company and has been a client of Swaab for many years. Again, as part of our commitment to Fred’s legacy and as a celebration of our firm’s paramount value‘Generosity Of Spirit’, we collaborated with Christian to create the bottle you are holding. We hope this multi-award winning Gin wrapped in a snapshot of Swaab’s culture is the perfect addition to your collection. The Gin is an Australian classic dry gin and truly Sydney, with Strawberry Gum, Lemon Myrtle, and Lilly Pilly botanicals. All of which can be found in the suburbs of Stephen’s artwork. Loaded with citrus, every sip leaves you with a candied fruit finish.

Thank you

I want to express my personal gratitude and thanks to Stephen and Christian who agreed to collaborate on this unique project. They both willingly gave of their time and energy. As I am sure you will agree, the final product is something very Swaab’.

I would also like to thank all our clients, Meritas colleagues, contacts, and friends of Swaab for your ongoing support and commitment throughout the year.

Please Enjoy!

Kind regards.

Mary Digiglio
