After an outstanding legal career spanning 45 years in Sydney law firms, Roger Cornforth retired from Swaab on 30 June 2026. While this marks the end of his day-to-day legal practice, it certainly does not mark the end of Roger’s connection with the many clients, colleagues and friends he has worked with throughout his career.

Roger’s career has been defined by trusted relationships, practical advice and an unwavering commitment to his clients. Beginning his legal career at Tress Cocks & Maddox, followed by an in-house role with Beneficial Finance Corporation, Roger then spent more than a decade at Lane & Lane Lawyers before enjoying a remarkable 27-year partnership at Holman Webb Lawyers, where he served as Managing Partner and later led the firm’s Private Client & Property Group. He joined Swaab as a Partner in 2021, bringing decades of expertise in property, property finance, wills, estates and private client advisory work.

Throughout his career, Roger established a reputation as a trusted adviser to individuals, families and family-owned businesses. Many of his client relationships spanned decades, reflecting the confidence people placed in his judgment, integrity and practical approach to solving complex legal issues.

Beyond his professional achievements, Roger has remained committed to the broader community through his involvement with the Northern Suburbs Rugby Club and as Honorary Solicitor of the Mosman Cricket Club, continuing a long tradition of service both within and beyond the legal profession.

While Roger has stepped back from the day-to-day management of legal matters, he retains his practising certificate and remains available to his past clients, colleagues and professional network.

Congratulations Roger on an exceptional career and thank you for the wisdom, leadership and generosity you have shared with so many over the past 45 years.

Should you be seeking guidance, a second opinion, or an introduction to a trusted specialist, Roger would be delighted to hear from you. Please feel free to call or email.
