Charitable

We embrace generosity of spirit and encourage charity fundraising ideas and initiatives across the Firm.  The partners match charity donations dollar for dollar.  We also have a close alliance with particular charities, which we support both financially and non-financially. These charities include Lifeline, Tristan Jepson Memorial Foundation, the Leukaemia Foundation and the Breast Cancer Network of Australia.
We have a calendar of charity events that we participate in each year as part of our commitment to giving back to the community, fundraisers include Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave, Red Nose Day, Jeans for Genes and Pink Ribbon Day. 
We have partnered with Corporate Citizen for workplace giving, enabling our employees to donate to their chosen charity from their pre-tax pay.
We are supporters of TJMF and staff are invited to attend the annual lecture and we support Lifeline through our ProBono program.

Social

We understand that all work and no play makes us all a little dull!  We like to have fun and we host regular social events including Trivia Night, Family Day, end of year party, end of financial year party, Melbourne Cup Luncheon, quarterly shared lunches and weekly Friday night drinks.  We also welcome new starters and celebrate special occasions with morning teas. 

Respectful

At Swaab respect for each other and the different skill sets we posses are paramount to the services we provide to our clients. Respect is one of our core firm values and is recognised during performance development and factored in to the criteria around other firm incentive programs. We encourage open communication between all levels of staff and expect all our employees opinions to be listened to and respected.

Active

We love to see our staff getting out and being active. We encourage our employees to maintain healthy minds, healthy bodies and healthy hearts.  As part of our commitment, we provide contributions towards wellness activities and $500 per year towards gym memberships. 
We also provide contributions to team sports.  Recent contributions to Swaab team sports include lunchtime Touch Football in the Domain, The Virgin Pulse Global Challenge, and The Law Firm Champions Cup Soccer Tournament

We believe in our staff being equipped with the right tools to be able to do their jobs to the best of their ability. We encourage our staff to share knowledge that will further enhance innovation and efficiency.

Rewarding

We like nothing more than recognising our staff for the great jobs they are doing. We celebrate "Swaabiversarys" which are our way of saying "thank you" and recognising our employees' contribution for each year of service with the firm.  Gifts include flowers or wine, with a card, and for service milestones at 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, 15 years etc. our employees receive a special gift, which is usually a gift voucher of their choice.

LEARNING

We encourage all of our people to embrace lifelong learning.  We have a firm-wide budget for seminar and conference attendance and we encourage our staff to utilise external learning opportunities to enhance their skills. 
We also provide a structured in-house learning and development program.  Our Business Excellence Seminars are a forum to discuss current issues in the law with peers.  Our learning and development program also includes seminars on business skills, practice management, compliance and technology.  Most of our in-house seminars are designed to count towards MCLE requirements.
As part of our commitment to our people to encourage them to be the best that they can be, we may be able to provide financial assistance for approved courses of formal study; for example, postgraduate qualifications or specialist courses relevant to their role.  We also provide paid study leave and exam leave for approved courses. 

Mind, Body and Spirit – Wellbeing program

Swaab encourages our employees to have a balanced life, believing that this contributes to their capacity and capability in the workplace as well as their wellbeing in general. Our most recent in-house mindfulness meditation program "Thrive" was an 8 week course provided by Inner Performance Management. 
We also run free seminars on "health and wellbeing" as part of our "lunch and learn" series.  A previous lunch and learn was on spinal heath in the workplace.

salary continuance Insurance

We understand there are more important things in life than work.  Accidents and illnesses happen and when they do, the last thing you want is the added pressure of worrying about supporting yourself and your family on a rainy day.  That's why we provide insurance for all of our people through our group salary continuance insurance.  Our salary continuance insurance provides you with a monthly income if you are totally or partially disabled due to illness or injury and are unable to work. 

legal fee assistance

We provide a $750 per annum allowance for personal legal work (capped at 3 years' service).  This allowance can be used for the purchase or sale of an employee's principal residence, estate planning for an employee and/or their partner, family law or other personal legal services.  We also provide reduced fee packages for wills and estate planning.

About the role
We currently have an opportunity for a talented and ambitious litigation lawyer with 4 years PQE to work closely with one of the firm's partners in our well respected Litigation team. Part of a dynamic, fast-moving and service focused practice group, this role provides regular client contact and involvement in all aspects of a broad commercial litigation practice. 
 
The role will provide exposure to a diverse range of clients and matters including contractual disputes; director's liability; corporate and personal insolvency; partnership disputes; competition and consumer law; property, construction, trusts and negligence in the Supreme Court, District Court, federal courts and various tribunals.
 
Skills & Experience
To be considered for this position candidates should possess prior experience in general commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters. Along with a passion for building strong client relationships with exposure to business development and a desire to build their own practice and advance their career.
 
You will be commercially savvy, a strong communicator, possess excellent technical abilities and appreciate the importance of attention to detail, planning your time effectively and meeting deadlines.
 
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic dispute resolution lawyer who has the aptitude and desire to progress their career in a supportive and collegiate environment.

About the role
 
We are looking for a bright, motivated, client focused Senior Associate to join our Family Law team.
 
Working in a very close and supportive team, you will have the opportunity to make your mark in this role, dealing with complex and commercially oriented family law matters for high net worth individuals.
You will be working on a full spectrum of family law issues including financial and parenting cases.
 
This role will also see you work in a largely autonomous manner and manage multiple matters concurrently so you will need to be able to confidently work at this level. It is important to us that you are passionate in this area of law, and have the ability to handle matters with both sensitivity and savviness.
 
 
About you
 
You will ideally have a minimum of 8 years post admission experience gained in a reputable firm, drive and tenacity, an articulate approachable manner and have excellent organisational and communication skills.  Specialist accreditation is preferable.
